Based in Spain, Holland and Florida
Jade Ellery is a British dressage rider, represented by Piaffe Sport, part of the Piaffe Limited Group. Born in Canterbury, England, Jade started riding at the age of five, attending Pony Club and had her first pony club pony called Crunchie at the age of six. Unfortunately, Jade had a couple of serious accidents, which led to a loss of confidence and pushed her away from riding on a regular basis. At the age of twelve, Jade asked her mother to help her overcome her fears with riding, as Jade feared that she would never ride. This made Jade more determined than ever to push through this barrier that had held her back. Every day, her mother took her to ride at her local riding school and with the patience and confidence shown by her trainer Jemma Cattran, Jade started to take part in cross country and show jumping. During the holidays, Jade could not wait to walk down to the yard to work to earn enough points for her free riding lesson!
Jade took part in local shows, which she enjoyed and grew in confidence as she progressed with her Eventing. In 2013, Jade moved with her family to Southern Spain where her mother encouraged her to try her hand at Dressage before she began jumping again. From that day on Jade's passion for dressage was born and she has never gone back to jumping or cross country or looked back.
Jade kept her horses and trained at Dos Lunas Dressage and Polo for eighteen months with her trainer Alfonso Exposito Santiso. She competed at national competitions with numerous wins and has always been placed . Her most notable Spanish results were at the Andalusian Championships, where she came 2nd in Juniors on her horse Valette . On her young horse Fabe she received Bronze.
In October 2016 Jade met her current trainer Leida Collins-Strijk. Leida saw something in Jade, which then led to Leida offering Jade the opportunity to go with her to Wellington, Florida. Through Leida, Jade was introduced to one of her other students Diana Porsche, whom Jade met in Salzburg to try her ride "Porsches Eloy". Diana kindly gave Jade the opportunity to ride the gelding, so the arrangements were made for him to travel to Florida for the season.
Jade began competing "Porsches Eloy" in January 2017 at a number of national events, where, in one of her tests she scored 75% coming first on a number of occasions. Once Jade had the permission from British Dressage to compete at the international events, she scored an amazing number of wins, most notable of which, was winning the 2017 Wellington Youth Dressage Championships.
Jade is incredibly grateful for all the love and support from her family, the dedication, training and commitment from Leida and the team that help her to progress her career. To top it off, she was overjoyed to have been selected for the British Junior team for the European Championships in August 2017.
